Meet your guide in Arusha in the morning and travel to Tarangire for your first game drive. Explore riverine habitats and baobab country, pausing for a picnic lunch and wildlife watching. Settle into your lodge or camp after the drive. Arrive in Arusha the previous evening so this first day is not dependent on an international flight.
Continue to Lake Manyara for a game drive through forest and lakeshore habitats. Look for monkeys, birds and larger mammals as your guide adjusts the route to accessible tracks and current conditions. After a picnic lunch, leave the park and travel to Karatu for dinner and a comfortable base in the highlands.
Spend the morning on a pre-arranged, locally hosted visit in the Karatu or Mto wa Mbu area. The activity may focus on farming, food or everyday community life, according to host availability and your interests. Return for an unhurried afternoon at the lodge. Any optional activity is agreed before booking; photography always requires permission.
Travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the central Serengeti, with scenic stops when time and park rules allow. This is a substantial transfer day rather than a full day of game viewing. After park entry, look for wildlife along the route to your camp and enjoy an evening in the bush.
Spend the day exploring the central Serengeti with your driver-guide. Choose a picnic outing or morning and afternoon drives according to camp location and your family’s pace. Scan grasslands and rocky outcrops for wildlife, taking time to watch behaviour rather than rushing between sightings. Migration locations change seasonally and are not guaranteed on this central route.
Take a morning game drive before starting the return journey towards Ngorongoro. The drive gradually climbs from open plains to cooler highlands. Arrive at the selected accommodation with time to rest ahead of the crater visit. The exact balance of driving and game viewing depends on camp position, road conditions and entry arrangements.
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive within the permitted visit window. Explore its varied habitats with a packed lunch, then ascend and travel back to Arusha. This is a full day with an afternoon road transfer. Spend your last night in town, with no same-day flight connection to rush.
Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed start before your agreed Arusha drop-off. If your schedule allows, spend the morning at leisure at the hotel. Transfer timing and any airport journey will be specified in your quotation; this itinerary ends in Arusha and does not assume a particular departure airport.
