4-Day Northern Tanzania Safari Extension
Extend your Tanzania holiday with a 4-day safari from Arusha to Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, with a cultural stop arranged along the route.
The Great Migration—witnessed from Ngorongoro’s crater floor to the Mara River crossings of the Northern Serengeti.
5 Days / 4 Nights
2–8 Guests
Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles complete one of nature's most dramatic journeys across the Serengeti ecosystem.
This five-day safari puts you at the heart of it. Begin with a full descent into Ngorongoro Crater, where the volcanic caldera floor supports an exceptional concentration of wildlife. The route then carries you deep into the Serengeti across a landscape shaped by volcanic grasslands, seasonal rivers, and ancient acacia forest.
In the north, the Mara River awaits. This is where the migration may reach its most dramatic moment: crocodiles lie in wait as wildebeest enter the current. Predators follow the herds, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and occasionally wild dogs.
Some of the world's most memorable safari opportunities are found here, and this itinerary is designed to place you close to the seasonal action.

Your guide picks you up and drives toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After a briefing at the crater rim, with your first sweeping views into the 260-square-kilometre caldera, descend to the crater floor for a full game drive.
Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its volcanic walls form a natural enclosure supporting lions, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhino. Enjoy a packed lunch on the crater floor before ascending in the late afternoon to your rim accommodation.
Highlights:
After breakfast with crater-rim views, depart for the Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with game-viewing opportunities along the way. The landscape transforms as you enter the Serengeti: open volcanic grasslands stretch to the horizon, punctuated by granite kopjes, seasonal rivers, and acacia woodland.
Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in Central Serengeti before settling into camp for the night.
Highlights:
The drive north through the Serengeti is a safari in itself. As you move through the ecosystem, the landscape shifts and wildlife patterns change. In season, migration herds may stretch across the Northern Serengeti near the Mara River.
River crossings are unpredictable natural events. Your guide monitors herd behaviour and current conditions to select suitable viewing areas while respecting park rules and wildlife.
Highlights:
Dedicate a full day to the Northern Serengeti and Mara River without travelling between overnight destinations. Morning and afternoon game drives are planned around current herd and predator movements.
Migration herds attract an exceptional concentration of predators. Depending on location and conditions, sightings may include lions, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, and occasionally wild dogs.
Highlights:
Take a final dawn game drive from camp. Predators are often active in the early hours, and the low morning light turns the grasslands golden.
After the game drive, transfer to Kogatende Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha. On arrival, continue by ground transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure.
